Attention All PANO Members
As the in-house counsel for PANO, I feel compelled to remind our members of their obligation to abide by the rules and regulations of the NOPD and also protect themselves from false accusations and/or public embarrassment.
With that being said, it has come to our attention that NOPD supervisors and PIB investigators will be dramatically escalating efforts to ensure officer accountability, especially as it relates to payroll, devotion of time to duty, and reporting-to-duty aspects.
As such, we are reminding you of your obligation to properly document accurate payroll information, be present and performing your duty during your working hours, and both report and depart during working hours.
Supervisors and PIB investigators have been tasked with performing both spot checks at working locations and spot checks at officers’ homes (both in the parish and elsewhere) to ensure compliance with all the above.
While we know the great majority of our membership comply with such policies, it never hurts to remind you of such enhanced scrutiny so that there are no errors made in regard to such matters.
Sincerely,
Eric Hessler
PANO Legal Counsel
